Drive Safe! Turn Your Headlights On!

When should you turn your headlights on?

  • Required: (1) 30 minutes after sunset until 30 minutes before sunrise. (2) In fog. (3) When you can’t see at least 100ft ahead of you.
  • Recommended: All the time.

Why all the time? When it comes to driving, doing everything you can to be safe at all times if important. In addition to using them at night, you should be using your headlights all day long to increase your visibility. Even if it does not increase your visibility, it will get you into a habit of turning your headlights on during any kind of weather; insuring they will be on when they are needed.

When you drive with your headlights on, it’s more likely that other drivers on the road will see you while you are out and about. That said, it’s important to only use your standard lights and to not turn on your bright lights, as it will only annoy other people on the road.

Headlights are not solely used to help you see, they are also to help other drivers see you!
